Differences Between Steel and Calcium Sulphate Raised Floors

We install anti-static raised floors in computer rooms to protect the equipment nowadays. It’s also convenient to place power cables under the floor. There are two kinds of raised floor which are usually installed in computer rooms. They are steel anti-static and calcium sulphate floor. So what’s the differences between them? We found that many customers make a mistake between steel anti-static panel and calcium sulphate raised floor. They think both of them are the same. Obviously, it’s a wrong understanding.

1. Raw materials

Steel anti-static raised floorboard is made of all steel. The surface plate is made of high quality SPCC hard steel plate. The bottom plate is made of ST14 deep tensile steel plate. The top and bottom plate are pressed and spot welded. The surface is sprayed with thermosetting epoxy powder, which has soft surface, anti-corrosion and anti-static properties. The steel anti-static floor is fully filled with high quality foaming cement, which forms a stable bearing structure.

Calcium sulphate exists in gypsum in nature. Calcium sulphate board is made of non-toxic without bleaching plant fiber as reinforcing material, solidified into calcium sulphate crystal. Then it is passed by pulse produced by pressing process. Compared with other series of flooring, the bearing capacity of calcium sulphate is the best among all series of flooring.

One is all steel base material, and another is calcium sulphate base material. So there’s a difference between them. What’s more, the prices of them are also different.

2. Performance

Anti-static flooring is divided into CQ, Q, B, Z load grades. The concentrated load of steel anti-static floor can be up to 1950KN. And the load-bearing capacity is CQ type. While the concentrated load of calcium sulphate panel is 5560KN. In comparison, the load-bearing capacity of calcium sulphate raised floor is higher, which is the highest type Z. When the load capacity is above 1000KN, the price of calcium sulphate panel will be lower than steel raised floor.

The number of  calcium sulphate panels users are increasing. This kind of floor has many advantages such as good practical effect, environmental protection, fireproof, waterproof, smooth and so on.

3. Service life of different raised floors

In the same environment, the service life of steel anti-static raised floor can reach 5-10 years. While the service life of calcium sulphate panel can be 20 years due to its superior material. Of course, the price of calcium sulphate board is higher than steel anti-static raised floor under 1000N laod capacity.
