What Is Raised Floor
1.Definition of raised floor
Referring to the definition in DIN EN 50600(German national standard with European standards), a raised floor is a system of movable and interchangeable ground frames interconnected by beams that are inlaid into an adjustable foundation frame. Its purpose is to provide underground space for equipment services.
The main kinds of raised floor include steel raised floor, anti-static raised floor, calcium sulphate raised floor, aluminum raised floor and perforated panel.
2.Structure
The raised floor is mainly assembled by a combination of adjustable brackets, beams and panels. There is a certain amount of suspended space between the horizontal floor and the panel. Elevated electric floors are generally divided according to the substrate and the veneer material. The substrate has a steel base, an aluminum base, a composite base, a particle board base (wood base), a calcium sulfate base, and the like. The veneer material is anti-static tile, melamine (HPL), PVC, etc. There are also anti-static plastic flooring, anti-static network floor and so on.
Take the steel floor as an example. It is made of good quality cold-rolled steel sheet, which is stretched, spot-welded, and coated with epoxy powder after having been phosphated. There is foaming cement fully filled, with corner-lock holes punched in four sides of panel. Then the surface is coated with anti static materials.
3.Function
As described in the definition, raised floors are commonly used in water-proof and dust-proof places such as office buildings, computer rooms and electric classrooms. The general concentrated load capacity ranges from 300 kg to 900 kg.
The main function of the raised floor is to provide support for IT equipment, leaving enough bottom space. Secondly, solve the problem of power and communication cable wiring inside the data center. Thirdly, effectively control the flow of cold air inside the equipment room to dissipate heat for IT equipment. Fourthly, solve some of the static problems. Finally, the raised floor has some properties such as fireproof, anti-static, moisture proof, corrosion protection, abrasion resistance and so on.
4.Trends
As the development with science and technology, intelligent engineering are required widely. So more and more workplaces even living places will choose raised floor as the decoration materials in the future.
